The inspector’s account

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Martha Arroyo arrived at the facility unannounced to conduct a required annual visit today. Upon arrival, the LPA was greeted by staff who then contacted the Administrator, Fatuma Nassanga via telephone and at this time, the reason for the visit was explained. Designated staff, Isaac Barya arrived at approximately 10:38am. Entrance interview conducted.

Starting at 10:40am, the LPA along with designated staff toured the physical plant areas inside and outside to ensure there are no health and safety hazards and that facility is in compliance with Title 22 Regulations. The following was observed:

Kitchen: The LPA observed the kitchen/food area at approximately 10:56am. The kitchen appliances appeared to be clean and in operable condition. The facility has a sufficient supply of non-perishable and perishable food; properly stored. Refrigerator and dry food pantry were checked for proper labels and expiration dates. Knives and sharps were in a locked cabinet adjacent to the dining room. The water temperature was measured in the kitchen sink, and it measured 110.4 degrees Fahrenheit at 10:59am.

Bedrooms: There are four (4) bedrooms designated for client use. The LPA observed all client bedrooms to be properly furnished and with sufficient lighting. There is a closet in the hallway with additional clean linens and towels for client use. Personal hygiene items were observed locked and inaccessible at the time of the visit. Staff bedrooms observed on premises locked and inaccessible to clients at the time of the visit.
