The inspector’s account

It was also alleged that staff did not treat C1 with dignity and respect. According to allegations, C1 has been yelled at by staff and staff were treating C1 with an attitude. According to staff interviews, no staff has been witnessed raising their voice at C1. Interviews also revealed that C1 has aggressive behaviors that staff must redirect. Interview with outside source did not reveal any information to corroborate allegation.

Additionally, it was alleged that C1 is not allowed to have access to laundry or laundered clothes. Interviews with C1 revealed that C1 has a specific shirt they wear and do have access to other clean clothes, but one shirt is preferred. C1 stated that their favorite shirt needs to be laundered when C1 orders staff to do so. Interview with staff revealed that multiple staff provide client with access to laundry machine but C1 does not place clothes in the necessary bin for staff to aid in washing. LPA Strong made observations of C1’s bedroom and observed all C1’s clothes on the floor. Interview with staff also revealed that C1 refuses to organize clothes and they are unable to distinguish what is clean and what is dirty.

Lastly, it was alleged that C1 is not allowed to use the facility television or use personal music device in common area. Interview with staff revealed that C1 does not accept feedback when television is too loud. Interviews revealed that multiple clients with sensory issues are affected with the loud television and C1 has been told to lower the volume. Interview with Administrator revealed that C1 refuses to follow house rules which has affected multiple other clients in the home.

Based on LPA's interviews, observation, and record reviews there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove alleged violation occurred, therefore the allegation is unsubstantiated. An exit interview was conducted with Michelle O'connell to whom a copy of this report, and the Licensee/Appeal Rights (LIC 9058 03/22) were provided.
