The inspector’s account

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Marisela Garcia-Centeno conducted an unannounced Required 1-Year Visit. LPA was greeted by, Caregiver, Virgilio Camagay to whom she identified herself and discussed the purpose of the visit. All staff present have a current criminal record clearance. Licensee, Esther Camagay arrived at the facility during the visit.

According to the facility’s license, the facility has a maximum capacity of six (6) residents 60 and above of which may be non-ambulatory. During today’s inspection, there were a total of six (6) residents in care. The facility is approved for two (2) hospice waivers and two (2) bedridden. Currently, four (4) residents are in hospice and one (1) is bedridden. Licensee has an approved hospice exception and recently submitted a hospice exception request to CCL for another resident due to change in condition.

LPA, accompanied by caregiver, Virgilio, toured the interior and exterior of the facility and inspected each room. The facility was clean, sanitary, and in good repair. Pathways were free of obstruction and slip hazards. Residents’ bedrooms contained the required furnishings. Doors, windows, screens, toilets, and showers were in working order. Extra linens and hygiene supplies were present, as well as Personal Protective Equipment. The facility had sufficient space and equipment to facilitate dining, laundry, visitation, meetings, and resident activities.

There were at least 2 days of perishable food and at least 7 days of non-perishable food present, all safely stored. Groceries are bought as needed once or twice per week. Cooking/dining equipment and utensils were present. There were no sharp objects, toxic chemicals/poisons, or open-faced heaters accessible to clients. Medications were labeled as required and stored in locked areas. (continue at LIC809C)
