The inspector’s account

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Beena Singh arrived unannounced to conduct the required annual visit to the facility. LPA met with staff Judieta Dueans and was granted access to the facility. Licensee/ Administrator Maria Weneliza Cabahug was informed and arrived during the visit and introduced themselves and stated the purpose of the visit. Client Capacity is four (4). LPA was informed that all 3 clients were at the day program.

The facility has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, an office, kitchen, dining area, family room, living room, laundry room inside the attached garage, and backyard. The facility is vendorized by the Inland Regional Center. LPA Singh completed a walk-through of facility, review of records, medication and P&I audit.

Physical Plant: The facility is operating in the capacity approved by Community Care Licensing (CCL). There are no obstructions to indoor and outdoor passageways. The facility is maintained at a comfortable temperature of 75 degrees Fahrenheit. LPA inspected client bedrooms; they are equipped with the required furniture such as mattresses, night stands, storage space, chairs and sufficient lighting. LPA inspected client bathrooms; bathrooms were clean, and appliances were found functional. Water temperatures tested at 117 degrees Fahrenheit. The facility is equipped with operational smoke detectors, carbon monoxide alarms and charged fire extinguishers. Posters such as the personal rights, CCL complaint poster and disaster plans were posted in the office. Cleaning supplies, toxins, sharps, and other dangerous items were kept in secure cabinets inaccessible to clients. There was a designated storage space for client/staff files. Medications and first aid kit were observed in secure cabinets and inaccessible to clients. The facility had emergency kits in the garage for clients in care. There are no firearms, ammunition, pool or bodies of water in the facility. Overall, the facility is clean, in good repair, and operates in safe conditions for clients in care.
