The inspector’s account

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Magda Malcore made an unannounced visit to the facility to conduct a required annual inspection. LPA met with Facility Staff, Randi Steward, and discussed the purpose of the visit. The facility is an two-story Adult Residential facility with a license capacity of (2) and a current census (1). LPA conducted an overall inspection, which included, but was not limited to, the following:

Operation/Physical Plant: Indoor and outdoor passageways were kept free of obstruction. The facility has no swimming pools or similar bodies of water. The facility has sufficient indoor activity space and supplies for clients in care. The facility's outdoor activity space is enclosed with a self-latching gate. The facility temperature was kept at 69 degrees F. The facility is equipped with smoke detectors/operating carbon monoxide alarms, laundry equipment, hallway night lights, fire extinguishers, and telephone service. Sharps, disinfectants and client's centrally stored medications were kept locked. The Administrator's certification and facility fire drill are up-to-date. Client bedrooms were equipped with beds, bed linen, nightstands, chairs, storage and sufficient lighting. Client bathroom equipment were operating properly. The hot water in client bathrooms tested at 113 degrees F. LPA observed in client bathrooms, used tissue paper in uncovered trash containers. An Emergency and Disaster plan was not available for LPA to review. Administrator Byron Simpson informed LPA via telephone that he was not sure were the plan was kept. Deficiency cited.

Food Service: The facility’s dining areas and kitchen were maintained clean. The facility has sufficient non-perishable and perishable food for number of clients in care. The facility has a sufficient supply of cups, plates, and utensils for clients.
