The inspector’s account

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Christina Valerio arrived unannounced to conduct an annual required inspection. LPA Valerio was met facility staff Rose, and explained the purpose of the visit. LPA was later met by Co-Administrator Christopher Estepa and Administrator Gemma Estepa.

LPA arrived and observed residents being dropped off by a transportation company. Two staff were present during the arrival and assisted the residents inside. Staff assisted residents inside, helped residents to their preferred reclining chair, provided snacks and drinks, assisted with medications, and asked residents their preferred afternoon activity. Residents were observed to be wearing clean clothing and appeared comfortable in their lounging chair. LPA observed co-administrator Christopher dropping off groceries and checking in with each of the residents. LPA and staff toured the facility to ensure compliance with Title 22 regulations. Residents bedrooms were observed to be clean, organized, and personalized to each individual's interest. Resident bathrooms was observed to be clean, to have hygiene supplies, and to be without odors. The faucet in the bathroom delivered hot water that was within the required range of 105.0 degree F - 120.0 degrees. The kitchen/dinning room was observed to have working appliances, medications locked in the medication cabinet, and sharps locked in the cabinet. The facility was observed to have an adequate supply of food. The backyard was observed to have a shaded area for sitting. The shed in the backyard was observed to be utilized for storage. LPA Valerio reviewed staff and resident files, which were observed to have required annual documentation.

LPA Valerio requested the following documentation be sent via email: LIC 500, LIC 308, LIC 610, and copy of surety bond.

Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) - Title 22 - no deficiencies were observed. An exit interview was held, and a copy of this report was provided.
