The inspector’s account

On 4/28/23 at 9:00am Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kevin Gould arrived at Eskaton Gold River Lodge (RCFE) for the purpose of conducting a required 1 year annual inspection. LPA met with Administrator, Neal Torres and together conducted a tour of the facility. The facility is a two story facility on a commercial street. The facility has a separate memory care unit.

LPA and Administrator evaluated the physical plant to ensure the health and safety of the residents in care. Areas inspected are including but not limited to the kitchen, resident bedrooms; resident bathrooms, living and dining room and outdoor areas. LPA observed the facility to be free of odor, clean and in good repair. LPA observed that all rooms are equipped with the required furniture and sufficient lighting throughout the facility. LPA and administrator observed 11 resident rooms and all rooms were in compliance with Title 22 regulations.

LPA measured the water temperature, temperature measured at 119 degrees F which meets the 105-120 degree Fahrenheit regulation. LPA observed a commercial kitchen that was clean and met all food requirements. . Fire extinguishers and smoke detectors are current and in compliance with fire safety. LPA notes the facility had the required carbon monoxide detectors. First aid kit was checked and is complete. LPA observed centrally stored medications secure from residents. Med rooms were in compliance with medication administration and the destruction and disposal of medical waste.

LPA Gould reviewed 11 resident files and observed 1 resident is in need of updating their LIC 602 (Physician's report). LPA Gould also reviewed 15 staff files and observed appropriate annual training for all staff and the appropriate annual training for staff working with residents with dementia and annual medication administration training.
