The inspector’s account

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Sabrina Calzada arrived unannounced to conduct a required annual and met with Maria Lina Santa Ana, cook, who was preparing food in the kitchen. The facility is a licensed 6 Prader Willi home that is vendorized through Alta California Regional Center for (6) ambulatory clients only. LPA was advised all (4) clients were currently attending day program and would return around 3:00 pm. Staff, Ana Zabala, Administrator, Cristina Chico and Licensee, Jowella Chico, arrived at 2:45 pm. There are vehicle/pedestrian gates at the front of the property-both gates were open/unlocked when LPA arrived.

LPA and the Administrator toured the interior/exterior of the facility and observed it to be clean, in good repair and odor free. LPA observed locked toxins, medications and sharps and sufficient 2+day perishable/7+day non-perishable food. The food and refrigerator are locked due to clients having Prader-Willi Syndrome. Hot water temperature measured 116*F in a client bathroom. LPA observed paper towels, soap, and trash can in the bathroom. Fire extinguisher was last serviced 10/14/24 and the smoke/monoxide alarms are working. Each client room has a locking mechanism, per Title 17. There are sufficient linens/towels/paper products, and a complete First Aid kit. There are games/activities on site, and sufficient outdoor space for activities.

LPA reviewed (2) client files and (4) staff files. Files were organized, complete and contained current documentation. P&I and medications/orders were reviewed for (2) clients each- no discrepancies noted. Medication documentation is current. Administrator Certificate current- # 7010781735 (exp 1/17/27). Staff completed the required initial/continuing training, including First Aid/CPR. Annual fees paid during today's inspection. There were required postings in the common area along with a monthly Recreational Activities/Outings schedule.

There are no deficiencies cited during today's inspection. E xit interview. Copy of report given to Licensee.
