Complaint Investigation Report
On 8/22/21, R1 experienced a behavioral episode that resulted in police transport to an area hospital for evaluation and overnight treatment.
Interviews found that when R1 was in the hospital, facility caregivers who arrived at the hospital were denied entry due to Covid-19 restrictions. The denial of caregiver entry, law enforcement not communicating R1's residence contact information or if the facility did not seeking other avenues to communicate with the hospital left the hospital to not have complete information about R1, R1’s needs nor their medications were unanswered.
Statements nor records are clear regarding what information was provided to law enforcement or from law enforcement to the hospital. The hospital also did not reach out to the facility for information about R1. R1 returned to the facility on 8/23/21.
As a result of this investigation, LPA finds allegation to be (US)Unsubstantiated - A finding that the complaint is Unsubstantiated means that although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of the evidence to prove that the alleged violation occurred.
