The inspector’s account

On 06/26/2025, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Ahliah Sharp made an unannounced visit to the facility to conduct a required annual inspection. LPA was greeted and granted entry by DPS Alandress Battle who was informed of the purpose of the visit. Shortly after LPA’s arrival, Administrator (ADM) Hunter Steven arrived at the facility. The facility has a fire clearance for three (3) ambulatory clients only, age range 18 through 59.

LPA toured the facility with ADM and reviewed records. During the tour, LPA observed facility is a two-story home with three (3) bedrooms and two (2) bathrooms with an attached garage. The second story has a staff office located in the open spaced loft. All client bedrooms had the required furniture and lighting. LPA toured the facility's exterior and observed outdoor pathways were free of obstructions. Outdoor shaded seating area is also available for the clients in care. LPA observed a hallway cabinet filled with clean towels, blankets, and linen, available for the clients. LPA toured the kitchen and observed the facility has a 2-day supply of perishable foods and more than a 7-day supply of non-perishable foods, which are stored in a safe manner. LPA toured the garage and observed an additional freezer with perishable foods. LPA also noted the facility secures additional cleaning solutions, laundry detergent, and disinfectants in the locked closet in the hallway. Administrator tested one (1) of the smoke alarms/carbon monoxide detectors and LPA observed it to be operational. LPA also observed a charged fire extinguisher mounted on the wall in the kitchen, last serviced on 06/1/2026. Medications are secured in a locked cabinet stored near the dining room area. Exit signs, emergency contact information, resident's personal rights, and complaint information are visibly posted throughout the facility. LPA observed the water temperature in the facility was over the preferred temperature per Title 22, however, prior to LPA completing the inspection, they were able to get the temperature within regulation and will still post the warning signs for precautions.
