The inspector’s account

On 5/6/2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Janette Romero made an unannounced visit to the facility to conduct a required annual inspection. LPA was greeted and granted entry by Caregiver, Sadat Abdul who was informed of the purpose of the visit. Administrator, Natalie Marcaida arrived during LPA's visit.

The facility has a fire clearance to care for six (6) ambulatory clients ages 18 through 59.

During the visit, there was one (1) client and two (2) staff present and LPA was informed two (2) clients were at day program. LPA toured the facility's interior and exterior with Caregiver Abdul and reviewed random staff and client files. Staff files reviewed had valid first aid/CPR and Nonviolent Crisis Prevention certification. Client files reviewed had updated Individual Program Plans and physician's reports and signed admission agreements. Caregiver Abdul tested one of the smoke alarms/carbon monoxide detectors and LPA found it to be operational. LPA also observed charged fire extinguishers mounted throughout the facility. The facility has a 2-day supply of perishable foods and 7-day supply of non-perishable foods. Medications are secured in a locked kitchen cabinet. Client bedrooms were clean and had the required bedding, furniture and functional lighting. Client bathrooms were also clean and had toilet paper and towels readily available. The living room fireplace has an appropriate screen to make it inaccessible for the clients. LPA also observed board games available for client leisure. Laundry detergent and disinfectants were secured in a locked cabinet inside the laundry room. Indoor and outdoor passageways are free of obstruction. Outdoor shaded seating area is available for client use. There are no bodies of water on the premises. LPA toured the garage and observed the facility has emergency food and water along with five (5) backpacks filled with emergency kits available for the clients. The facility safeguards the clients' cash resources. LPA reviewed the Record of Client's/Resident's Safeguarded Cash Resources (LIC405) along with the current clients' physical monies and did not discover any discrepancies.

During today's visit, LPA did not observe any issues or concerns. An exit interview was conducted and a copy of this report was reviewed and provided to Administrator Marcaida.
