The inspector’s account

Per the administrator, the clients can become verbally or physically aggressive towards others and sometimes need additional Staff to redirect the client(s). Therefore, there are always 3-4 staff working each shift due to the enhanced behaviors of the clients. Staff are equipped with CPI training . Staff interviewed are aware of the clients’ behaviors and will ensure there is another staff to assist when redirection is not effective. Staff stated C-1 had alleged staff abuse in the past but recanted the statements as well.

LPA reviewed the file for Client #1 (C-1). C-1’s Regional Center IPP indicated that C-1 tends to fabricate stories to seek attention. It is a behavior that staff are working with client in trying to decrease the occurrences. All the staff interviewed had stated C-1 sometimes fabricates stories and makes false allegations. They document these incidents each time it happens in their behavior chart. LPA interviewed 2 Clients and one stated the staff are nice and not abusive. Client also stated that other clients at the home can be mean to staff.

Although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation did or did not occur, therefore the allegation is UNSUBSTANTIATED.

An exit interview was conducted with Marc Marquez. A copy of this report along with the appeal rights were provided.
