Resident not accorded dignity. - UNSUBSTANTIATED

It was reported that a client in the facility feels they are being ignored by the administrator because the client told them they feel intimidated by them.

During the course of the investigation, it was learned that a Far Northern Regional Center service coordinator was meeting with another client at the facility and Client 1 (C1) asked to talk. C1 stated that the administrator intimidates them and C1 doesn’t feel like they can talk with the administrator. Based on C1’s expressed anxiety toward the administrator, the administrator decided to step back from C1 and a second administrator provided C1 with support during this time.

Client 1 (C1) has lived at the facility for many years. C1 has expressed that they would like to move out to live independently and the service coordinator and administrator have been working with C1 to safely make that transition. C1 has expressed frustration that they cannot stay with an acquaintance for a longer period of time because the facility wants C1 to come back home after the visits during which C1 can stay away for days at a time. The administrator supports C1 when they visit their acquaintance by providing healthy food to take with them and transportation to and from the visits.

Although the allegation may have happened or are valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove that the alleged violation occurred, and the findings are UNSUBSTANTIATED.

No deficiencies cited. Exit interview conducted and a copy of the report was provided to administrator Gail Mason.
