The inspector’s account

On 05/15/24, Licensing Program Analyst Renee Campbell arrived to the facility to conduct a post-licensing visit. Upon entry, LPA Campbell observed R1 sitting in the entry to the facility. R2 was sitting in a recliner in the living room. The facility office had been turned into a bedroom for R3 with Friench doors that remained open during the visit. LPA Campbell was met by Careigiver Myra Morales. LPA Campbell then explained the purpose of the visit and toured the facility. During the inspection, family for resident R3 arrived and examined R3's room.

The facility is a one story building with four bedrooms that is licensed for 6 residents. Currently there are only 5 residents and 2 of the bedrooms may be shared. The floor plan of the facility indicates a staff room closed off from the living room. The kitchen was observed to have sharps locked and inaccessible to residents. There were 2 days of perishable foods and 7 days of non-perishable foods in the pantry. Bedrooms contained the appropriate furnishings of a bed, chair, night stand with lamp, closet and drawers. The common area living room contained two recliners and a TV. The hot water temperature was measured 117 degrees Fahrenheit which is between the required 105 to 120 degrees Fahrenheit and the thermostat is set at 72.

The extinguisher was last serviced on 05/23/23. The medication storage area was observed to be locked and inaccessible to residents in care. Medication records for 5 of 5 residents were reviewed and observed to be in compliance with regulation. The first aid kit was observed to have adequate supplies and was accessible to staff.

LPA Campbell reviewed the files for 2 of 3 staff.

Per California Code of Regulations, Title 22, there were no deficiencies observed or cited during todays inspection.
