The inspector’s account

Licensing Program Analyst Bertozzi arrived unannounced to conduct a Case Management inspection and met with Back-up Administrator, Darcy Harlan.

Facility reported an incident involving client, C1. Per report, facility staff was at a store with clients when C1 began to grab objects off shelves and put items in their pockets. Per interview and report, facility staff physically removed C1 from the store by holding them around the abdomen and directing them out of the store. C1 continuously hit staff so the police were called.

Deficiencies cited from the California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 6 of California Regulation. Appeal rights given. Failure to correct the deficiency and/or repeat deficiencies within a 12 month period may result in civil penalties.
