The inspector’s account

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Farhaan Sarangi arrived at Erika's Home for the purpose of conducting a Case Management-Incident inspection. LPA was greeted at the door by Administrator, Elizabeth Wise, and was granted access into the facility.

During the Case Management-Incident inspection, LPA was made aware that the staff member was recently terminated on September 5, 2023 due to an incident occurring on September 4, 2023. Client was not able to be interviewed during this Case Management-Incident Inspection. LPA requested the following documents:

Also during this Case Management-Incident Inspection, LPA reviewed an incident report with the Administrator indicating that the facility did not administer a medication dosage to a client in care. Based off the incident report dated for September 29, 2023, a client was not administered the morning medication on September 28, 2023. Administrator confirmed the date and time which the medication was missed during the Case Management-Incident inspection.

Deficiencies are cited from the California Code of Regulations (CCRs), Title 22, Division 6, Chapter 1. Failure to correct the deficiency and/or repeat deficiencies within a 12 month period may result in civil penalties. Exit interview was conducted with the Administrator and appeal rights were given to the Administrator.
