The inspector’s account

At approximately 12:00 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elias Magdaleno arrived unannounced to conduct a required 1-year annual inspection and was greeted by Campus Administrator Nicole Paiste. Administrator Michele Sheldon was contacted and arrived at approximately 1:00 PM. Facility is an Adult Residential Facility (ARF) with forty-four (44) clients in care.

At approximately 12:40 PM, LPA initiated a tour of the facility with Campus Administrator and observed the following: Facility is a one (1) story facility, was a comfortable temperature, and passageways were free from obstructions. Facility's fire extinguishers were observed charged and last serviced 4/25. Smoke and Carbon Monoxide detectors are hard wired and last inspected 5/25. A sample of water temperatures in client accessible sinks read within the allowable range of 105 to 120 degrees F per Title 22 regulations. LPA observed a supply of clean linens, hygiene, and paper products available for clients. A spot check of clients' bedrooms showed them to have the appropriate furnishings as outlined in Title 22 regulations. Cabinets containing cleaning supplies and other items that could pose a risk were locked. Facility has at least two (2) days of perishable food and seven (7) days of non-perishable foods, as well as an emergency water supply. Walk-in refrigerator was inspected and food throughout kitchen was observed to be covered and dated. Facility has weekly menu posted for clients to see. Client allergy list and special diets are kept in visible areas for kitchen staff to follow. Facility has a computer room and internet available for client use. There is a large outdoor courtyard with sports equipment, work out equipment, and gardening classes. There is a separated outdoor area designated for smoking. LPA observed multiple entertainment rooms and a serenity room. Facility has weekly activity schedules posted throughout and also has maintains a monthly outings schedule which includes family invited events.
