The inspector’s account

At approximately 9:50 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Star Stevenson arrived unannounced to conduct a required 1-year annual inspection and was greeted by Administrator Ana Morales-Astorga. Facility is an Adult Residential Facility (ARF) with four (4) clients in care. Two (2) clients were away at day program during visit, while another two (2) were out on community outings. Facility is a vendor of North Bay Regional Center (NBRC).

At approximately 10:05 AM, LPA initiated a tour of the facility with Administrator and observed the following: Facility is a one (1) story home, was a comfortable temperature, clean, without odors and passageways were free from obstructions. Facility's fire extinguisher was observed charged and last serviced 10/25. Smoke/Carbon Monoxide detectors and fire doors were tested and operational during inspection. Water temperatures in client bathrooms were between the allowable range of 105 to 120 degrees F per Title 22 regulations. LPA observed a supply of clean linens, hygiene, and paper products available for clients. Clients' bedrooms were inspected and observed to have all the appropriate furnishings as outlined in Title 22 regulations. Cabinets containing cleaning supplies and other items that could pose a risk were locked. Facility has at least two (2) days of perishable food and seven (7) days of non-perishable foods, as well as an emergency water supply. Facility has an internet access device and internet available to clients in care.

Facility is noted to have upright exercise bike, massage chair, large chalk activity board, board games and televisions.

Backyard is set up with two large shade/seating areas, as well as, large outdoor kitchen/bar-b-que. The backyard is set up for activities such as basketball, plastic axe throwing, connect four and tether ball.

Licensee was advised of the need to reinforce a side gate latch that appears to be deteriorating.
