The inspector’s account

At 12:52 pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Rankin arrived to the facility, unannounced to conduct an annual facility inspection. LPA met with Administrator, Jamie Staine, and provided the reason for the visit.

A tour of the inside and outside of the facility was conducted. The following was inspected and noted during the annual visit:

Physical Plant & Environment Safety: The facility is a 4 bedroom, 2 ½ bath, occupying 5 residents. The facility has smoke and carbon monoxide detectors that were tested and working at the time of visit. The toilet, hand washing and bathing facilities are operational. Hot water was tested, area is experience heat wave, requested facility to turn the water heater lower and test water daily. Facility is well lit inside and outside for safety. Disinfectants and cleaning solutions are inaccessible to clients in care and locked under the kitchen sink and in garage. The facility has sufficient space inside and outside for activities and visiting. The facility has a fenced backyard for client use with plenty of shade. The fire extinguishers were viewed and were charged.

Operational Requirements: The facility has a current plan of operation on file with the department. The Facility is operating in compliance with the granted fire clearance. The facility is approved for a capacity of 6, which include 4 ambulatory and 2 non-ambulatory.

Staffing & Training: The facility currently employs 12 staff of which 1 is the administrator. Staff records are kept confidential. Files reviewed had current 1st Aid/CPR, Personnel Records/Application, Health screening with TB results, Criminal Record statements, and Fingerprint clearance/Associations/exemptions. Administrator’s Certificate expires 10/3/26. Staff have annual training completed for various subjects/topics and hours for 2026. Continued 809-C
