The inspector’s account

On 12/10/24 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Maja Jensen arrived t facility unannounced to conduct a required one year annual visit. LPA Jensen met with Victoria Ogbuehi and explained the purpose of today's visit.

LPA Jensen toured the grounds. The grounds were maintained. LPA Jensen did not observe any outdoor furniture or shaded areas for client use. An out door table was observed and LPA Jensen asked staff if there is an umbrella for the table. Staff advised that the umbrella is broken. LPA Jensen observed 2 torn window screens. The yard is enclosed by a wooden fence. The gate that allows access from back to front is in disrepair. LPA Jensen was unable to open the gate. Staff was able to open the gate using a rock.

LPA Jensen toured the interior. The physical plant has two stories. There are currently 5 clients and live in staff. There was adequate furnishings and lighting throughout. Staff quarters are compliant. LPA Jensen inspected the kitchen and observed 2 days of perishable food and days of non-perishable food available. Ground beef and rice was being prepared for dinner. Knives, toxins and medications were locked and inaccessible to residents. The ambient temperature was at a comfortable level. The bathroom water temperature was within the required range.

The carbon monoxide detector was tested and determined to be in good working order. Disaster drills are conducted. There is a first aid kit that is complete. The fire extinguisher was recently purchased and is in compliance. LPA Jensen reviewed 2 staff files and 4 resident files and determined them to be complete. LPA Jensen engaged with two clients during the course of the visit, neither of which expressed any concerns. Technical assistance was provided on maintaining the facility in good repair.

No deficiencies were cited. An exit interview was conducted and a copy of this report was given.
