The inspector’s account

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Joseph Alejandre made an unannounced visit to conduct the required annual inspection. LPA met with Program Director Jennifer Devore and explained the reason for the visit. LPA and Jennifer Devore toured the facility. The facility is a two story home with 3 client bedrooms (all client bedrooms are shared), living room with a screened fireplace, dining room, family room with a screened fireplace, kitchen, laundry room, 3 car garage and 4 bathrooms, small room used for the medication office and one room used as the staff office and a large activity room on the second floor. The garage and staff office and medication office are kept locked and not accessible to clients. LPA observed all fire extinguishers are fully charged. Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors are operational. The last fire drill took place on March 1, 2025. LPA observed all bathrooms are clean and operational. LPA observed the exhaust fan in the laundry room does not have a cover plate. LPA observed all client bedrooms had the required furnishings and bed linens. LPA observed a two day perishable and a 7 day non-perishable food supply on hand in the kitchen. LPA toured the backyard. No bodies of water observed. LPA and the Program Director toured the backyard. No bodies of water observed. There is seating area with a table with an umbrella for shade and chairs for the clients to sit outside. LPA observed the exit gate is does open but the bottom hinge is loose. No obstacles or hazards observed inside or outside of the facility. LPA observed the medication is kept locked in the medication office along with the sharp objects. LPA observed the cleaning supplies are kept locked in the downstairs closet. LPA reviewed 6 client files and medication, no discrepancies observed. LPA reviewed 4 staff files no discrepancies observed. Facility has a dedicated internet device for client use. LPA observed a 3 day emergency supply of food and water stored in the family room. No deficiencies are being cited as a result of this visit. An exit interview was conducted and a copy of the report provided.
