The inspector’s account

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Hanna Gough made an unannounced visit to the facility to conduct the required annual inspection. LPA was greeted and granted entry by staff. House Manager (HM) Christian Moore contacted Administrator (AD) Marisa Hernandez via phone and explained the purpose of the visit. The facility currently has 6 clients in care of which all are out in the community.

The facility is a two story home with six client bedrooms, one staff room, two client bathrooms, one staff bathroom, living room, dining room, laundry room, kitchen, three car garage and a swimming pool. LPA observed the facility to be clean, safe, and sanitary. LPA observed all client bedrooms to have the required components and furnishings. LPA observed the staff bedroom to be accessible to clients with no medications, sharps or other items accessible to clients. The medication is stored in a locked bin in the staff closet and made inaccessible to clients in care. LPA observed the bathrooms to have toilet paper, paper towels and non slip mats in the shower. LPA tested the water to be between 106.3 and 107.6 degrees Fahrenheit. LPA observed extra supplies of clean linens in the upstairs and downstairs hall cupboards. LPA observed the kitchen to be free of debris. LPA observed 2 of 3 stove burners to not be operational. LPA observed the two day perishable and seven day non-perishable food supply on hand and accessible to clients. LPA observed the sharps to be locked in a closet located in the hallway making them inaccessible to clients in care. LPA observed the emergency food and water supply in a closet located in the downstairs hallway. LPA observed the toxins and chemicals to be locked in a cabinet located in the garage making them inaccessible to clients in care. LPA tested the carbon monoxide and smoke detectors and they were found to be operational. LPA observed the backyard to have a shaded seating area for client use. LPA observed the pool to have a 5ft mesh fence surrounding it on three sides and a brick wall on the fourth. The pool is locked and made inaccessible to clients in care.
