Facility Evaluation Report
Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Joseph Alejandre made an unannounced visit to conduct a case management visit. The Agency (CCL) received an unusual incident report on 6/21/2022 regarding a client refusing to take their medication. LPA was greeted and granted entry by staff. LPA explained the reason for the visit. LPA met with Administrator Linda Punzalan. The Client (C1) has not harmed himself or others but is not eating all their meals and not taking all of their medications. The Administrator has reported this to the C1's PCP, Psychiatrist, Responsible Party, Regional Center of Orange County and the Agency (CCL). The Administrator has consulted with the Psychiatrist, who has determined the client cannot be checked in to the hospital at this time because the behavior has not escalated to a dangerous level. On 6/18/22 the Administrator contacted law enforcement and the CAT team. C1 refused to talk to them and was not harming anyone so no assessment was done. At this time C1 is still attending day program. C1 does eat sometimes and takes some medications. Facility has scheduled an appointment with C1's PCP and is waiting to confirm an appointment time with C1's Psychiatrist. The staff have all been made aware to encourage C1 to eat and take all their medications. Staff reported that C1 is belligerent and yells at them and usually refuses their requests. The Administrator reported that staff do their best to assist C1 but they are not cooperating with the staff. At this time the facility is doing everything they can to assist C1 to meet their needs and attempting to provide C1 all the resources to assist them. Administrator reported the staff will continue to assist C1 and do everything they can to encourage eating and taking medications and making a comfortable environment for C1. No deficiencies observed during this visit. No violations are being cited as a result of this visit. Administrator was reminded to continue to report all incidents to the Agency (CCL). An exit interview was conducted and a copy of the report provided.
