The inspector’s account

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Rose Ruppert made an unannounced visit to the facility today to conduct an Annual Required Evaluation. LPA was greeted and granted entry and met with Mimi Saturno, Administrator.

The facility is a one story home with four client bedrooms, three bathrooms, a living room, a kitchen, a dining area, an activities room, and an attached two car garage. The approved fire clearance is for four ambulatory clients. There are currently no clients in care. Facility is waiting for approval from the Regional Center of Orange County (RCOC) before accepting clients in care. The facility is doing renovations which will be completed within two weeks.

During today’s visit, LPA toured the facility and inspected the physical plant, including but not limited to testing all smoke detectors, testing hot water temperature in one of two client bathrooms, and testing auditory devices on all exits, The hot water temperature measured 119.1 degrees Fahrenheit and all smoke detectors were operational . The fire extinguishers are charged and were serviced on January 15, 2025 and are scheduled to be inspected next week. The facility is currently updating one client bathroom and a walk-in shower is being installed. A fire drill has not been conducted since there are no clients in care.

LPA inspected the facility food supply and observed the facility retained a minimum of two days perishable and seven days non-perishable food on hand . The sharps and knives are secured in a locked drawer and the cleaning chemicals are locked underneath the sink. All appliances were operational. LPA observed emergency supplies in the dining area and all bedrooms have the required furnishings of bed, dresser and lighting. During renovation, the licensee will be changing window screens and updating auditory devices.
