The inspector’s account

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Samer Haddadin arrived at the facility unannounced to conduct the required one-year evaluation using the Care Inspection Tool. Upon arrival, LPA Haddadin was greeted and granted entry by DSP Tania Marroquin.

The facility is a single-story structure located in a residential neighborhood and is licensed to serve three ambulatory clients and one non-ambulatory client. At the time of the visit, four clients were in care with three staff members on duty.

The facility was observed to be clean and sanitary. There are four client bedrooms and three client bathrooms. All common areas, including the laundry room and the attached two-car garage (which also functions as an office), were inspected. Client bedrooms were appropriately furnished, with beds and bedding in good condition, adequate lighting, and sufficient storage space for personal belongings. Bathrooms were clean, operational, and in compliance with Title 22 regulations. Water temperatures measured 113.0, 115.7, and 115.3 degrees Fahrenheit.

Toxins, disinfectants, sharps, and medications were secured and inaccessible to clients. The facility maintained a sufficient two-day supply of perishable food and a seven-day supply of non-perishable food items.

The exterior of the facility was inspected and found to be in good condition. Outdoor passageways were free of obstructions, and the exit gate was self-closing and self-latching.
