The inspector’s account

Allegation: Staff do not provide adequate food service. It has been alleged that this facility provides repeated food services. Staff interviews revealed that kitchen staff follow a menu (week 1 to week 4) which reflects on array of meals. Interviewed staff indicated that the meals are not repeated consecutively. Per staff interviews, all meals are announced to clients throughout the facility via a speaker announcement system. Interviewed staff indicated that the meal for the day is posted in front of the kitchen for clients. Staff interviews revealed that food substitutions are also provided for clients that wish to each something different from the menu. Interviewed staff indicated that kitchen staff prepare fresh soups and do not use left over food to make the soup for the next day. Interviewed staff indicated they have not received any concerns/complaints of clients losing weight due to meals provided at this facility. Staff interviews revealed that a plate of food is put aside for clients that are out in the community during mealtimes. Interviewed staff indicated that clients are not denied of food. Interviewed staff indicated that all staff (including kitchen staff) are respectful and have not received any complaints in regards to the food nor clients having stomachaches due to the facility food. Client interviews revealed that the meals are not repeated consecutively. Client interviews revealed that all meals are announced to clients throughout the facility via a speaker announcement system. Interviewed clients indicated that the meal for the day is posted in front of the kitchen. Interviewed clients also indicated that the kitchen staff provide them with food substitutions upon request. Client interviews revealed that soups are prepared fresh and not prepared with left over food. Interviewed clients have not heard anyone complaining about clients losing weight due to meals provided at this facility. Client interviews revealed that a plate of food is put aside for them when they are out in the community during mealtimes. Interviewed clients indicated that they are not denied of food. Interviewed clients indicated that all staff (including kitchen staff) are respectful. Interviewed clients indicated they have not heard any complaints in regards to the food nor clients having stomachaches due to the facility food. Interviews, documentation, and tour do not corroborate this allegation.

Although the allegation may have happened or are valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation did or did not occur, therefore the allegation is UNSUBSTANTIATED.
