The inspector’s account

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Sandra Urena arrived at the facility unannounced to conduct a required annual visit at 12:10 p.m. Upon arrival, the LPA met with staff and explained the reason for the visit. Assistant Administrator (AD) Esmeralda Puente arrived thereafter.

The LPA and the staff toured the physical plant areas inside and outside to ensure there are no health and safety hazards and facility is in compliance with Title 22 Regulations.

COMMON AREAS: At the time of the visit, living room and kitchen room furniture was observed to be in good condition. There is a fireplace in the living room, which is screened and inaccessible. The facility maintained a comfortable temperature of 70 degrees. Smoke detector(s) and carbon monoxide detector were tested and operational at the time of the visit. The two (2) fire extinguishers were fully charged and were last serviced on 02/02/2024. The LPA observed required postings throughout the common space, with the exception of the Emergency Disaster Plan (LIC 610) which needs to be updated and posted in a visible place.

KITCHEN: Knives and sharp objects are stored inaccessible to clients.Kitchen appliances appeared to be in operable condition. The facility has a sufficient supply of perishable and the non-perishable food, which is located in the office area. Refrigerator and food pantry were checked for proper labels and expiration dates. The washer and dryer are adjacent to the kitchen area. Cleaning supplies were observed to be locked.

BEDROOMS: Bedrooms were furnished appropriately with clean linens, appropriate furnishings and sufficient lighting. There are three designated residents’ rooms. There was a linen closet in the hallway with extra towels and linens.
