The inspector’s account

It was alleged that facility staff did not dispense medications as prescribed. Interviews conducted on 12/23/2024 explained that Resident #1 (R1) was transported to the hospital on 12/15/2024 for possible stroke or heart complications. Lab results from R1’s hospitalization documented benzodiazepines in R1’s system. LPA conducted a medication audit on 12/23/2024 of all medications held at the facility and did not observe benzodiazepines being retained at the facility or prescribed to any residents. Interviews conducted with staff and residents did not have any information supporting the allegation. Staff and Administrator stated they were unaware of benzodiazepines and have not retained any at the facility. LPA Barutyan observed several medication errors during the initial complaint visit and citations were issued on a case management report, however, no evidence of benzodiazepines were observed. Based on interviews, observation, record review, and medication review, the Department does not have sufficient evidence to corroborate the allegation. Although the allegation may be valid, at this time there is insufficient evidence to support the allegation or that a violation occurred, therefore, the allegation “facility staff did not dispense medications as prescribed” is deemed UNSUBSTANTIATED at this time.

No deficiencies cited at this time. Exit interview conducted. A copy of the report was issued.
