The inspector’s account

At 9:30am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Angela Panushkina arrived at the facility to conduct an unannounced annual inspection. LPA rang the doorbell, but no one answered. LPA contacted the Administrator and explained the reason for the visit. Administrator and Staff #1 (S1) arrived shortly after, and a tour of the physical plant was initiated at 10:00am, and the following was observed:

The facility is approved for capacity of six (6) Ambulatory clients.

Kitchen: The kitchen area is equipped with a refrigerator, microwave oven and sink. There were adequate supplies of perishable and nonperishable food and dining ware to accommodate a maximum capacity of six (6) clients. Sharp knives/objects are kept in the kitchen and observed to be locked and inaccessible to clients in care. Fire extinguisher is located near the kitchen and last serviced on 09/09/2024.

Bedrooms: There are three (3) bedrooms designated for clients’ use. All bedrooms are furnished with beds, dressers and required bedding and linen. The bedrooms have sufficient closet space. LPA was informed that the facility has live-in, awake staff at night.

Bathrooms: Facility has three (3) bathrooms. Bathrooms have soap and paper towels. Extra towels and linens were readily available. The hot water delivered in the client bathrooms measured at 117.8°F.

Common Areas: The facility maintains a comfortable temperature of 70°F. LPA observed all common areas are furnished with adequate furniture to accommodate a maximum capacity of six (6) clients. There is a functioning telephone on the premises. Dual smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were located throughout the facility, and at 11:30pm they were tested and observed to be operational.
