The inspector’s account

At 11:00 a.m. Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Esther Cortez arrived at the facility unannounced to conduct a required annual visit. The LPA was greeted by staff and they were informed of the reason for the visit. Staff contacted Administrator Ebony Brown telephonically. The Administrator arrived shortly thereafter and was informed of the reason for the visit.

At 11:30 a.m. the LPA conducted a tour of the physical plant with the Administrator to ensure there are no health and safety hazards and facility is in compliance with Title 22 Regulations. The following was noted:

The facility is a single story family home located in a residential neighborhood. The property consists of the following: 3 client bedrooms, 1 common client bathroom, one private client bathroom in room #3, one staff bathroom, staff office, one family bedroom, living room, kitchen, dining room, attached garage . The washer and dryer is located in the kitchen area. Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide were tested during the visit and functioned properly.

Kitchen : The kitchen appeared clean and the appliances and fixtures functional during the time of visit. LPA observed a sufficient amount of perishable and non-perishable food at the facility; Sharp objects are stored in a locked cabinet and cleaning supplies are stored in a in a locked closet.

Bedrooms: All client bedrooms were properly furnished with at least one chair, nightstand and sufficient lighting for each client. Bed linen were sufficient in amount, mattresses were observed in good condition, adequate lighting was provided, storage for client personal belongings was observed.
