The inspector’s account

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Blanca Gonzalez conducted an unannounced required annual inspection visit. LPA was greeted by Teresita Sapanghila, DSP, and the reason for the visit was explained. Administrator, Gemma Rodriguez arrived shortly after.

Facility is licensed to serve (6) developmentally disabled adults of which four (4) may be non-ambulatory. The facility is operating within the scope of the license.

The facility is a single story home located in a residential area of Glendora. The home consists of a living room, dining area, working/office area, kitchen, laundry room, 3 client bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathrooms, an attached garage, front yard and backyard.

LPA utilized the Compliance and Regulatory Enforcement (CARE) tools for the visit today and observed the following:

Living room and dining area are clean and have sufficient seating. There is a covered fireplace, inaccessible to clients. LPA observed games and other activities for available. Kitchen was observed clean and free of pests. LPA observed sufficient supply of nonperishable food for one week and perishable foods for a minimum of two days. Soaps, detergents, and cleaning supplies were observed to be stored away from food supplies.

Water temperature was checked in bathrooms and measured 107.9°F, with the required range of 105-120° F. Each client bedroom was observed to have the required furniture and bedding. There are extra, clean linen and towels in hallway closet. Smoke detectors were observed in each room and throughout the facility.
