The inspector’s account

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Christian Gutierrez conducted the annual inspection using the Compliance and Regulatory Enforcement (CARE) tools. LPA met Caregiver Vivian Moreno at approximately 8:30 AM and explained reason for visit. Administrator Pamela Ogot arrived shortly.

This facility is a Residential Care for Elderly (RCFE) to serve residents for age 60 and above. The facility has a capacity of 34 residents. It is licensed to serve elderly residents age 60 and above, approved for 34 non-ambulatory residents. Facility is approved for 8 hospice waivers. The facility cares for elderly residents with dementia. The facility is in a residential neighborhood and consisted of 17 resident’s bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, living room, kitchen, dining room, activity room, medication room, and patio. Facility has operable fire alarm and sprinkler system.

Resident bedrooms were toured. Each bedroom has a bed, linen, dresser, and lighting. Smoke detectors/carbon monoxide detectors were observed in each room and throughout facility. The facility has several fire extinguishers that are fully charged. Cleaning supplies and toxic substances are inaccessible locked in storage room. Freezers are maintained at a temperature of 0-degree F and the refrigerators at a maximum of 40 degrees F. LPA observed expired and not sufficient 7 days non-perishable foods in the kitchen. There are no firearms or weapons stored at the facility The resident bathrooms have the required grabs bars and non-skid mats. The hot water temperature in the bathrooms were not measured between the required range of 105-120 degrees F. Bathroom #1 (B1) 128.3, B2 124.8, and B3 123.9 The common areas include the dining area and activity room that are clean and have the required furniture. There is a laundry room that is locked that contains extra linen and towels. The facility does not have a swimming pool or large body of water. There is a shaded seating area for the residents in back yard. Passageways and exits are free of obstruction. SEE LIC 809C
