The inspector’s account

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Nune Margaryan conducted an unannounced annual visit using the Care Inspection Evaluation Tool. LPA met staff William Harrell, shortly after Administrator Ashley Ballinger arrived and assisted with the visit. Reason for the visit was explained. The physical plant was inspected along with medications, food supply, and clients and staff records. The facility is licensed to serve developmentally disable clients between the ages 18 to 59 and receive services from San Gabriel /Pomona regional Center. Two (2) clients were at day program and two (2) clients were present at facility.

The facility is located in a residential area. LPA toured the home and inspected four (4) client bedrooms, one (1) office, three (3) bathrooms, living room, kitchen, dining area and den, front yard and back yard. The front and backyard are well maintained and there are no pools or large bodies of water. A shaded area located in the back patio is available and accessible for the clients. Laundry area which has a washer and dryer is in the backyard under a covered area. Laundry detergents were observed in the laundry area locked and inaccessible to clients. Passageways and exits are free of obstruction. Client bedrooms were checked. Each bedroom is equipped with the proper furnishings. Bedrooms also have sufficient closet space. The bathrooms were toured. Bathrooms are clean and have the required hygiene items. The hot water temperature was tested and measured within Title 22 Regulation guidelines. Extra linens, blankets, towels, and personal hygiene supplies were observed. The kitchen was inspected. There is sufficient perishable and non-perishable food. All the appliances are clean and working properly. Sharps are locked in the office and are inaccessible to clients.
