The inspector’s account

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Nune Margaryan conducted an annual required visit. LPA met with Licensee / Administrator, Jesusa Viloria. The purpose of the visit was explained. The facility is licensed to serve (6) mentally disabled adults ages 18 - 59. There are currently 4 ambulatory clients residing at the facility.

LPA toured the home and inspected (3) client bedrooms, (1) staff bedroom, (1) client bathroom, (1) staff bathroom, kitchen, dining / living room, office area, laundry area which located in the attached garage.

The front and backyard are well maintained and there are no pools or large bodies of water. There is a shaded seating area for the clients located in the backyard. Passageways and exits are free of obstruction.

The water temperature was tested in the client’s bathroom and measured at 111.2 F which is within the required 105 - 120 degrees. Client bedrooms have the required furniture such as bed frames, dressers, lamps, and chairs. Bedrooms also have sufficient closet space. Clients’ beds have the required linen, and the linen is in good condition. Extra linens, blankets, towels, and personal hygiene supplies were observed. Smoke detectors were observed throughout the facility. There is a carbon monoxide detector in the hallway and was tested and operable during the visit. There is a fireplace located in the living room area which covered by a screen. There is a fire extinguisher located in the kitchen and it is fully charged. Kitchen appliances are clean and were operating at the time of the visit. LPA observed an appropriate food supply of nonperishable foods for a minimum of one week and perishable foods for a minimum of two days. All sharp objects and knives are locked in the kitchen drawer and inaccessible to clients. Cleaning supplies and toxins are locked in a cabinet located in the garage and are inaccessible to clients. First Aid kit was fully stocked with current manual. Centrally stored medications are stored in a locked cabinet in the office area. LPA reviewed clients and staff files. LPA confirmed staff working have fingerprint clearances. LPA reviewed clients’ medications. Medications are documented properly and given as prescribed. Fire drill conducted on 04/01/2024.

No deficiency was observed during today's visit. Exit interview was conducted and a copy of report was provided to Jesusa Viloria.
