This is an official report of an unannounced visit/investigation of a complaint received in our office on
11/29/2022 and conducted by Evaluator Stephanie Torres
COMPLAINT CONTROL NUMBER: 18-AS-20221129082717
ROY'S DESERT SPRINGS ADULT RESIDENTIAL CARE
Staff did not ensure the facility was free from pests
Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Stephanie Torres, conducted an unannounced visist to the facility to initiate the investigation into the above allegations. The LPA met with Administrator, Jones Ntekim, and informed him of the purpose of the visit.
The LPA conducted staff/resident interviews, collected documents, and toured the facility. Pertaining to the allegation, "Staff did not ensure the facility was free from pests," it was alleged a fly was observed in resident's food about two weeks ago. The LPA toured the facility and did observe one fly in the dinning area. Eleven interviews were conducted; it was revealed there have been flies in and outside of the facility, however, no one reported there to be flies in food served to clients. In addition, it was reported, measures were put in place to mitigate flies getting into the facility. Therefore, due to insufficient information to corroborate or refute the claim, the allegation is deemed UNSUBSTANTIATED at this time. A finding that the complaint is unsubstantiated means that although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of the evidence to prove the alleged violation occurred. This report was reviewed with Administrator Ntekim and a copy was provided.
