The inspector’s account

On 7/23/2025 at 9:35 am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Y. Brown conducted an unannounced annual required inspection. LPA met with caregiver Theresa Abernathy. Theresa informed Administrator (AD) Glen Ocal via telephone and LPA explained the purpose of the visit. AD arrived to the facility at 10:05 am.

LPA toured the facility including but not limited to bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, common area and backyard. The facility consists of 8 total bedrooms of which 7 bedrooms are occupied by the clients and 1 bedroom is for staff. The facility consists of three (3) total restrooms of which two (2) are used by clients and one (1) is used for staff. All outdoor and indoor passageways are kept free of obstruction. There are no bodies of water.

A comfortable temperature for clients is maintained at 74 degrees Fahrenheit. LPA observed lighting in all rooms are adequate for the comfort and safety of the clients. Hot water temperature in the shared clients’ bathroom was measured at 114.6 degrees Fahrenheit. All toilets, hand washing, and bathing are safe, sanitary and in operating condition. The supply of extra hygiene was available for clients. There is a minimum of one-week supply of non-perishables and 2-day perishables food supply. Smoke detectors/carbon monoxide were in operating condition during visit. Fire extinguisher was last services on 5/30/2025. First aid kit was observed to be complete.
