The inspector’s account

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Joseph Alejandre made an unannounced visit to conduct the required annual inspection. LPA met with Clinical Director Jennifer Devore and explained the reason for the visit. LPA and Jennifer Devore toured the facility. The facility is a two story home with 3 client bedrooms (all client bedrooms are shared), living room with a screened fireplace, dining room, family room with a screened fireplace, kitchen, laundry room, 3 car garage and 4 bathrooms, small room used for the medication office and one room used as the staff office and a large activity room on the second floor. The garage and staff office and medication office are kept locked and not accessible to clients. LPA observed the all fire extinguishers are fully charged. The hot water measured from 119.0 to 120.0 degrees Fahrenheit in all bathrooms. LPA observed all bathrooms are clean and operational. LPA observed all client bedrooms had the required furnishings and bed linens. LPA observed a two day perishable and a 7 day non-perishable food supply on hand in the kitchen. LPA toured the backyard. No bodies of water observed. There is seating area with a table with an umbrella for shade and chairs for the clients to sit outside. LPA observed the exit gate is operational. No obstacles or hazards observed outside of the facility. LPA observed the medication is kept locked in the medication office along with the sharp objects. LPA observed the cleaning supplies are kept locked in the downstairs closet. The smoke detectors/carbon monoxide detectors tested operational. LPA reviewed 6 client files and medication, no discrepancies observed. LPA reviewed 4 staff files no discrepancies observed. No deficiencies are being cited as a result of this visit. An exit interview was conducted and a copy of the report provided.
