The inspector’s account

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Rose Ruppert made an unannounced visit to the facility today to conduct an Annual Required Evaluation. LPA was greeted and granted entry by the House Manager at 1pm. During today’s visit, LPA met with House Manager and Melissa Punzalan. Administrator and explained the purpose of the visit.

The facility is a six bedroom, single story residence with an approved fire clearance of one non-ambulatory and five ambulatory. The facility currently has a census of six clients in care. At time of arrival, LPA observed four clients in the home and two clients were attending Day Program.

During today’s visit, LPA toured the facility and inspected and tested all smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. All smoke detectors were operational. The fire extinguisher was charged on April 3, 2025. The last quarterly fire drill was conducted on December 19, 2025. The Emergency Disaster Plan was posted and LPA confirmed liability insurance is current. LPA tested hot water temperature in two of two client bathrooms. The hot water temperature measured between 111.1 and 114.6 degrees Fahrenheit.

LPA toured the kitchen and medications were locked and secured in a cabinet. LPA audited medications and medications are being given as prescribed. PRNs were documented and corrected from last annual visit. The First Aid Kit had all of the required elements and a First Aid Manual was on site. All appliances are in working order, including a new microwave. LPA observed the facility had two-day perishables and seven-day non-perishables on hand. Emergency supplies were observed both in the kitchen, as well as the detached garage. The garage also had additional food supplies and the washer and dryer.
