The inspector’s account

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jerome Haley conducted an unannounced visit for the purpose of conducting the required one year annual inspection. LPA Haley was greeted and granted entry by Administrator (AD) Normando Surio and explained the reason for the visit. AD Surio has a current Administrators certificate that expires March 25, 2025.

New Life Homes 2 a one-story community with seven bedrooms and two full bathrooms.

The current capacity is 6 and the census was 4 at the beginning of today’s visit.

During the inspection, LPA Haley observed all client bedrooms. The bedrooms had all the requirements and were in compliance with regulation guidelines. In the hallways there's a locked closet used by staff to store their personal items. Other hallway closets were used to store a supply of hygiene items for the clients, and one hallway closet is used to store a supply of linens.

Multiple fire extinguisher was observed fully charged and mounted on the walls in different areas of the facility. A Carbon monoxide detector was observed on the ceiling near one of the staff rooms and tested operational.

All client bathrooms were observed. Hot water temperatures were measured in between 109.9 – 112.1 degrees Fahrenheit. No hazardous items were observed in the resident bathrooms.

The kitchen was clean and organized. LPA observed a perishable and nonperishable food supply in compliance with regulation guidelines. Knives and sharp objects are kept locked in a drawer next to the stove. Hazardous chemicals are locked under the sink. There’s a locked filing cabinet in the kitchen with client medications and first aid supplies. An additional first aid kit with all the required elements was hanging on the wall in the kitchen. The gas stove was operation and all 4 burners, and the warmer were operational.
