The inspector’s account

On 5/8/25, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Daiquiri Boyd and Melinda Medina arrived at the facility unannounced to conduct a required Annual Inspection visit. LPAs met with Program Director, Diana Castaneda. LPAs explained the reason for the visit.

LPAs toured the facility inside and out including both entrances & exits, facility's 6 classrooms, and 4 bathrooms. LPA observed facility to be clean, clutter free, and odor free. This morning there were 45 clients that were present at start of day. Thermostat was set at 69 degrees F. All exits and entrances were clear and free of obstruction.

Classrooms toured, all classrooms have adequate seating available for clients. LPA observed clients and staff interacting with one another in an educational setting. Day program has a kitchen that is utilized for cooking experiences but no meals are prepared on site. LPAs observed, dishes, pots, pans, and utensils available. All knives are locked and secured. Client bathrooms toured, all fixtures observed operational. Flooring in both men's and women's bathroom observed to be separated and/or cracked along the wall and in need of repair or replacement. Program Director stated medication is not stored or administered on site.

LPAs observed cleaning supplies being stored under the kitchen sink without being locked. Laundry room door observed unlocked, LPAs observed laundry detergent in cabinet that is accessible to clients. LPAs observed janitor's closet to be locked, which stores chemicals. LPAs also observed paints & glue locked in a storage cabinet. All chemicals observed accessible were locked and secured during inspection.
