Complaint Investigation Report
During interviews with the clients, none of them corroborated the allegation. One client interviewed stated that their room is clean and does not have any issues with bed bugs. Another clients interviewed stated that while they did have bedbugs in the past, their room no longer contains any bedbugs and therefore it is no longer an issue. during interviews with the staff, none of them corroborated the allegation. One staff member stated that they do have a contract with a pest control company and do weekly services on the facility, and also service the rooms themselves when it is reported that there is any issue with bedbugs in a client bedroom. Another staff member stated that while some clients bring items into the facility from the community which causes bedbugs to be present in their rooms, they do address these issues and have their rooms services once they are aware. During the room checks of the sixteen (16) client bedrooms, LPA did not observe any bedbugs in the rooms or mattresses of the clients.
In regards to the allegation that " Residents sustained bedbug bites due to staff neglect," it is alleged the clients have sustained bedbug bites in the facility due to staff neglecting to address the bedbugs present in the facility. During interviews with the clients, none of them corroborated the allegation. All clients interviewed stated that they were not suffering from any bedbug bites at the time of the visit. During interviews with the staff, none of them corroborated the allegation. One staff member interviewed stated that they were not aware of any clients experiencing bedbug bites due to bed bugs being present. Another staff interviewed stated that while one client had bedbugs in their room due to bringing furniture in from the community, their room was treated three (3) weeks ago and is not experiencing any bedbug bites. During interviews with the clients and tour of the facility, LPA did not observe any resemblance of bedbug bite marks of the clients of the facility.
Although the allegations may have happened or are valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violations did or did not occur; therefore, the allegations are UNSUBSTANTIATED.
An exit interview was conducted. A copy of this report, along with the appeal rights, was provided.
