Complaint Investigation Report
Allegation: Staff do not safeguard client's money. It has been alleged that facility staff takes $1,200.00 of a clients’ money without the clients’ knowledge. Staff interviews revealed that staff do not keep clients’ money. Interviewed staff indicated that clients board and care costs are covered by the client’s Social Security Income (SSI) and that clients also receive a monthly Personal and Incident (P&I) allowance for their own personal spending. Interviewed staff indicated that the clients receive their P&I monies every Wednesday and that clients sign off a document to confirm the disbursement. Interviewed staff indicated that they have not received any complaints pertaining to this matter. (9) out of (10) interviewed clients revealed that their board and care costs are paid by their SSI benefit. (9) out of (10) interviewed clients revealed that clients are provided with their Personal and Incidental Monies (P&I) every Wednesday. (9) out of (10) interviewed clients indicated that they have not heard anyone complaining about this matter nor that they have any concerns. Interviews and documentation do not corroborate this allegation.
Allegation: Staff do not treat client with dignity and respect. It has been alleged that staff does not treat a client well and make them “feel stupid”. Staff interviews revealed that clients are treated with dignity and respect. Interviewed staff indicated that they have not witnessed any staff being disrespectful to any clients. Interviewed staff indicated that they have not received any complaints pertaining to this matter. Staff interviews revealed that staff are trained on clients rights and mandated reporting. (9) out of (10) client interviews revealed that staff treat clients with dignity and respect. (9) out of (10) client interviews indicated that they have not witnessed any staff being disrespectful to any clients. (9) out of (10) client interviews indicated that they have not heard anyone complaining about staff not treating clients with dignity and respect. Interviews do not corroborate this allegation.
Although the allegation(s) may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence to prove the alleged violation(s) did or did not occur, therefore the allegations are UNSUBSTANTIATED.
