The inspector’s account

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Mayra Cota, conducted an unannounced annual inspection today. LPA met with Winona Escano, Direct Support Professional, and the reason for the visit was explained. Leah Avila, Administrator, arrived thereafter and continued to facilitate today’s visit.

The facility is licensed to serve (12) developmentally disabled adults ages 18 to 59 of which (2) may be non-ambulatory. Bedrooms #1, 2, 3, and 4. The facility is operating within the scope of its license. There are currently (7) clients living in the home. The facility provides services to clients through the Frank D. Laterman Regional Center.

The two-story home is in a residential area of Pasadena. The first floor consists of living room, dining room, kitchen, staff office, (4) client bedrooms, (3) full bathrooms, and a service porch. The second floor consists of (4) client bedrooms, den, (1) full bathroom and (2) storage closets. The exterior of the home has front and backyard and a detached garage with a laundry area.

The facility was observed clean inside and out. Walkways, passageways and exits are kept clear of debris and obstructions. Furniture is clean and in good repair. Living room and dining area have sufficient seating for staff and clients. The kitchen was observed clean and appliances were operating properly. The facility has sufficient 2-day perishable and 7-day perishable supply of food. Sharps/knives, cleaning supplies and other toxins are kept locked in the kitchen. Bedrooms have all the required furniture, bedding and adequate lighting. Bathrooms were also observed clean and sanitary. Water temperature was tested in the bathrooms and measured within 105 – 120 degrees F. which is within the compliance range. Bathrooms have safety grab bars and non-skid surfaces. Extra towels, personal hygiene supplies and bedding were observed in a hallway closet. ***Continues on LIC 809-C****
