The inspector’s account

At 10:00am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Angela Panushkina arrived at the facility to conduct an unannounced annual inspection. LPA met with the Administrator and explained the reason for the visit.

Upon arrival LPA observed the entrance to the home is gated and requires for guest to be announced. The driveway serves as a large parking lot for guests. There is a tennis/basketball court located at the front of the home.

COMMON AREAS: The facility maintains a comfortable temperature of 70°F. LPA observed all common areas furnished with adequate furniture to accommodate a maximum capacity of six (6) clients.

MEDICATION / LAUNDRY ROOM: The laundry room is located in the garage. The washer/dryer appear to be in good condition. Laundry supplies are kept inaccessible when not in use with supervision. At approximately 10:10am, LPA observed medications are centrally stored and locked and inaccessible to clients in care. The first-aid kit has been inspected which has at least the following: tweezers, scissors, antiseptic, bandages, gauze, thermometer; including a current First Aid manual. LPA also inspected two (2) out of three (3) clie nts medication records and observed that the staff failed to properly document medications and left the section on Centrally Stored Medication and Destruction Record (CSMDR) "Date Started" blank. Additionally, LPA was made aware of the incident that occurred on 04/03/26, due to medication error and a "former" client was hospitalized. However, no incident report was submitted to the Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD). Deficiency will be issued on LIC809-D.

KITCHEN: The facility has a kitchen area that is equipped with a refrigerator, microwave oven and sink. LPA observed there to be sufficient stock of one-week perishable foods and two-day non-perishable foods. Frozen foods are properly wrapped and stored appropriately. Continue on LIC809-C
