The inspector’s account

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Lorena Casillas arrived at the facility at 09:40 am for an unannounced yearly inspection. LPA was greeted by Administrator Priscilla Isordia and LPA explained the reason for the visit.

A tour of the physical plant was conducted at 10:30 am with caregiver. The facility has five (5) bedrooms and two (2) bathrooms. It is currently occupied by four (4) clients. One (1) bedroom and one (1) bathroom are designated for staff use only.

Infection control: LPA reviewed facility mitigation plan (approved on 03/13/21) to make sure licensee was following current infection control recommendations.

Kitchen : LPA conducted a tour of the kitchen around 10:35 am and observed there to be sufficient stock of two-day perishables and seven-day non-perishables foods. Mondays are designated grocery shopping days and currently grocery list was being made by staff. Frozen foods are properly wrapped and stored appropriately. Food storage and preparation areas are clean and inaccessible to pests. Chemicals, household supplies, and knives, locked and stored under kitchen cabinet. First aid kit furnished and fully equipped.

Common Areas : LPA observed the living room to be neat and clean along with the dining room. The facility maintains a comfortable temperature at 70°F. LPA observed a cabinet that locks where staff and client files are kept. The smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors were tested and observed to be operational at 10:50 am. There is one (1) fire extinguisher located in the kitchen. The Fire extinguisher was observed to be full and last serviced on 01/12/2024.
