Complaint Investigation Report
The investigation revealed the following: Regarding allegation; Resident not allowed telephone calls. It is alleged resident's friend has called and they won't tell resident. Interviews with residents revealed 2 out of 5 residents have had access to facility's telephone when needed to make phones and have received telephone calls in cordless phone. 2 out of 5 residents stated they have their own cellphones and do not need to use the facility's telephone and 1 out 5 residents stated to not know there is a phone available as resident does not have anyone to call. Interviews with staff revealed 4 out of 4 staff interviewed stated residents take calls on cordless telephone and are allowed to make phone calls at all times. On 1/11/22 LPA toured the facility and observed two pay phones, one located in the patio and one located in the back cottage both with a dial tone and in working condition. LPA observed the cordless phone in the front lobby with a dial tone and being provided to a resident during the tour for a phone call in the patio next to the lobby. Administrator stated that the phone in the front lobby is available for residents to make phone calls and received calls at all times. LPA Flores reviewed the phone bills for the months of November 2021, December 2021, January 2022, and February 2022 which shows different phone lines which are connected to extensions to allow transferring calls to extension 107 for residents calls.
Although the allegations may have happened or are valid, there is not a preponderance of evidence standard to prove the allegation did or did not occur, therefore the allegation is UNSUBSTANTIATED .
