The inspector’s account

Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Blanca Gonzalez conducted an unannounced required annual visit. LPA was greeted by Program Director Daisy Miralles, and the purpose for the visit was explained. Administrator Reynaldo Aro arrived shortly after to assist with visit. The facility is licensed to serve 30 ambulatory adults. Currently there are 13 adults enrolled in the program that are serviced through South Central Los Angeles Regional Center.

The facility is a single-story building located in Downey. A tour of the facility included: Lobby/Entrance with 2 staff desks, Administrator’s Office, Program Director’s Office, activity room, locked storage closet, two (2) restrooms, a room for resting/quiet space, computer room and lunch/break/locker room with sink and refrigerator.

LPA utilized the Compliance and Regulatory Enforcement (CARE) tools for the visit today and observed the following:

Infection Control: Facility maintains the required Infection Control Plan.

Physical Plant & Environment Safety: Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors were observed, tested and are operable. There are three (3) fire extinguishers, last serviced 04/10/26. No pools or large bodies of water were observed. Cleaning solutions, toxins, poisons and hazardous items are secured/locked in a storage closet and inaccessible to clients. The facility was observed to be clean, safe and sanitary. The activity room has sufficient space for clients and there are plenty of activities to choose from.
